Tonight you’re crawling into bed with one of two lovers: excuses or excellence.
That’s the truth. You’re either spooning excuses or waking up next to excellence. There is no middle ground.
And odds are—you’ve been curling up with excuses. Most people cuddle up to the same ones every night. Because they’re familiar. They’re comfortable. They smell like home.
But excellence?
Excellence stretches you. Excellence might even make you sweat a little. Excellence invites you to stretch like the Eagle and soar.
The Interview That Didn’t Happen
So Tony was entirely unprofessional.
Not prepared. Showed up late. Didn’t do his homework. And that’s not the first time this has happened to me.
I’m not picking on Tony here. I’m showing you how this plays out everywhere.
See, I’ve been doing interviews here and there. Some are fun. Some are frustrating. And here’s the confession:
I didn’t bother revising for the good ones - or the bad ones. Until now.
Because…
Neville Goddard says:
“If you believe you will not pass another without lifting their cross. And by doing so, you discover that your love, your light itself.”
When I imagine lovingly for anyone I pass or anyone who pops into mind—I get blessed. Every single time.
But this time? I didn’t bother.
Tony gets on the call two minutes late. After a few minutes he says, “Do you want to do this today or reschedule?”
I said, “Today.”
We didn’t. We just had a chat.
A nice chat. A bullshit chat.
And I got off the call without revising.
Simply self-indulgent.
Spotting the Pattern
Here’s the kicker.
It’s a pattern.
It repeats for me.
It repeats for them.
It repeats for you.
And if I let it grow, if I just shrug it off, then that’s more of that pattern in the world.
This is my Garden of Eden. This is my chance to redeem.
Why settle when you can soar?
Ground Meat vs. Top Shelf
I’m the guy who buys top shelf steaks for ground meat prices.
Picked up a pile of T-bones the other day for less than the price of ground chuck. Got them aging in the fridge. Divine.
I do this with meat. I do this with cars. BMW’s and now my Mercedes - for the price of a chevy….
But with exposure? With podcasts? I’ve been settling for spoiled ground meat.
That changes now.
The Power of Revision
Neville said if he could teach one thing, it would be Revision.
I used to hate Revision. Because I was doing it wrong.
That’s why we made the video about the three most common Revision Mistakes earlier this week. Because when you stop making those and your life changes pretty darn quickly.
But here’s the next level: Revision isn’t just about blessing you. It’s about blessing them too.
When I live from the identity of being the blessing, I can’t help but be blessed.
So I revise Tony as a pro.
I revise me as someone who only deals with pros.
Which means anyone I deal with is a pro.
That lifts them up too.
That’s identity. That’s rock solid. Not hope. Not daydreams. Identity.
Excuses or Excellence
So here we are.
Excuses: “Well Mr. Twenty, times are tough, I’m not that kind of guy.”
Excellence: “I choose - to become - who I have desired - to be.”
Excuses or excellence. Which one do you cuddle into bed with tonight?
